In case you haven’t heard, Computer Games Magazine is no more.
CGM is one of the few magazines I subscribed to anymore and it’s the only magazine I’ve subscribed to straight for the past six or seven years. I’m going to miss it. I hope everyone that was doing freelance finds good work and to Steve, the real workhorse behind the mag, thanks for all the good times. I’ll always have fond memories and as I finish up reading the April issue I’m more than a little saddended to think this is the last one. I hope it all works out.
As for what this says about the PC Gaming industry in general…well, more of the same. It’s slowly but surely declining. I’m told that CGM was solvent and moderately successful and they were closed because of some crap their parent company was going through, but still, it’s a sign of the times. Slowly but surely, the PC Gaming industry is declining and will continue to do so. It’s good to have lived in and seen the glory days and now, in the decline of a once great empire, so many good games are still being released. I’m going live it up while I still can.
PC Gaming is dead, long live PC Gaming!
So, Computer Games Magazine, rest in peace and know all of us PC gamers will miss you.
What Would Matt Do: Here’s hoping everyone there finds good work. I’ve gotten to know a couple few of them over the years of posting at QT3 I can only wish them the best, even if Tom Chick is a crazy man. :)
