If you’ve gone to register a domain recently, you might have noticed Network Solutions charges a lot more than most companies to register a domain. What you may not have known is that if you search a domain with Network Solutions and don’t buy it right away, they lock it so you can’t buy it for certain number of days. That some seriously shady shit.

Turns out that many domain registrar have been snooping on customer searchs and quickly registering any hot name a customer searchs for but does not register immediately. These registrars know these domains can later fetch premium prices.
At the very least it’s stupid business practices, at the worst, it’s deceitful big business using their power how ever they see fit. Just thought you should know.
What Would Matt Do: Not using Network Solutions ever again, that’s for sure. It looks like NWS even followed up on the blog posting above and told them to basically not be such babies.
